ISO 4
THE CLASS, IN WRITING
WHAT THE NUMBERS ACTUALLY MEAN
Nine Classes, and Only Two of Them Belong Near an Open Drive
A hard drive’s read/write heads fly closer to the platter surface than the width of a dust particle. That is the entire reason clean rooms exist in this trade: a single particle settling on a platter is not dirt, it’s an obstacle at head height. Which class of room a drive is opened in isn’t a detail. It’s the job.
Under ISO 14644-1 the classes run from 1 to 9 and each step permits about ten times more airborne particles than the one below it. ISO Class 4 is the standard this work is done to. ISO 5 permits roughly ten times more. “Class 100,” which still appears on plenty of websites, comes from FED-STD-209E — a US federal standard withdrawn in 2001 — and corresponds to about ISO 5. ISO Class 9 is an ordinary room with the door shut.
So the useful question isn’t whether a company has a clean room. It’s which number, and can they send you the paper that says so. Ours reads ISO Class 4 under ISO 14644-1:2015, tested by an outside firm and signed by a NEBB-certified performance technician. Ask us for it before you commit to anything — and ask everyone else the same.

WHAT WE RECOVER
Airport Corridor Businesses and Delaware County Households
Hard Drive Recovery
Hard drives that are clicking, seized and beeping from a drop; head crashes, firmware faults and bad sectors caused from media damage. Weak or faulty head assemblies replaced with precision-matched donor parts inside our certified clean rooms.
SSD & NVMe Recovery
These devices degrade while in use and develop bad sectors , firmware corruption and some times require NAND-level recovery on solid-state drives that are no longer recognized. Degraded NVMe drives require specialized hardware, not a software license.
RAID, NAS & Server Recovery
Failed rebuilds, simultaneous drive failures and degraded arrays for freight, logistics and hospitality operations along the airport corridor. Power down and call before anyone attempts a rebuild.
FLOOD & STORM DAMAGE
Drives fried from a power surge – drives from flooded ground floors and water events near the river and the creek. Corrosion continues long after the outside is dry, so these are the most time-sensitive cases we handle. Seal it in a bag and call.
Apple & Mac Devices
Macs and MacBooks with a removable SSD or hard drive, Fusion Drives, iMacs, and the MacBook models that carry Apple’s data-recovery (“lifeboat”) connector. Also Airport Time Capsule and LaCie external drives. We don’t perform board repairs on current MacBooks with soldered storage — we’ll tell you that on the first call rather than after we have your machine.
SECOND OPINIONS
FOR THE IT FIRMS ALONG THIS CORRIDOR
You Shouldn’t Have to Explain Where It Went
If you run managed IT around Essington and Tinicum, physical drive failure is the one call where the answer isn’t yours to give. Most providers escalate it — correctly, because a clean room and matched donor parts are not something any MSP should own. The awkward part is the next question: the client asks where their drive actually went, and you’d like a better answer than a company name you can’t say much about.
So: our address is on this page, our clean room class is a number you can check, and the person who opens the drive is the person who answers the phone. Recovery is the only thing we do — no managed services, no helpdesk, no repairs — so there is nothing for us to sell your client and nowhere for the relationship to leak. Referrals pay 10% per completed case, and the triage call is free whether you ever refer anything.
